The research is devoted to the identification of the main factors of adaptation of the Buddhist tradition, formed on the basis of the religious and philosophical heritage of the scholars of the ancient Indian monastery of Nalanda, in the modern world. It is determined that the ideas of voidness, compassion and bodhichitta, as well as contemplative practices, studied in detail in the works of Nalanda’s Panditas and actively preached by Tibetan Buddhists, are becoming important both in religious and secular contexts, and therefore can represent answers to the global challenges of our time.
