THE ROLE OF BUDDHISM IN THE FORMATION OF A TRANSBORDER SOCIOCULTURAL SPACE

The paper demonstrates that the multi-ethnic region of Amdo has become the center of understanding Buddhism as a dominant religious and philosophical force in the context of local religions (Bon, Confucianism, Taoism, Shamanism). There, primarily through the efforts of Mongolian philosophers and historians of the Gelug tradition (Jamyang Shepa, Changkya Rölpé Dorjé, Sumpa Khenpo, Tugan Dharma-bhadra), an inclusivist classification scheme for the religious and philosophical teachings of India, Tibet, China, and Mongolia has been implemented. The educational system plays an important role as a channel of religious and cultural communication for the region where Central Asian Buddhism isspread (Tibet, Mongolia, and the Buddhist regions of Russia and China). In this system, there have been developed a unified curriculum, educational standards, a nomenclature of academic degrees and titles mutually recognized throughout the educational space, and a system of continuous education, individual segments of which could be implemented in different countries. The educational system has also facilitated the exchange of academic professors. All of this has contributed to the formation of a unified semantic and axiological space in the region, creating a foundation for sociocultural communication.
