The paper discusses various aspects of the inclusion of the Buddhist Traditional Sangha of Russia (BTSR) in economic and cultural processes in Buryatia. The author argues that the practical aspects of the BTSR activities are becoming an important factor in improving the social climate of the republic and make a significant contribution to its economic activity. The head of the Sangha Hambo Lama Damba Ayusheev formulates the long-term goal as the preservation of Buryat ethnic identity through returning to traditional livestock farming and the revival of cultural authenticity. For this purpose, BTSR gives priorities to retaining young people in rural areas with full support for agricultural entrepreneurship, regardless of what ethnic group the project participants belong to. The development of culture, primarily the Buryat language and traditional crafts, is also an important component in the thoroughly planned and systematically realized work of the BTSR on ethnocultural revival.
