Its influence on the modern development<br \/>\nof Buddhism in China is considered. It is shown that the most important component of this concept is the social involvement of Buddhism. It is indicated that the origins of this concept go back to the early period of the development of Buddhist teaching, when Buddhism was divided into Hinayana and Mahayana.
